Digital Overwhelm Lights Our Brains on Fire
Dec 13, 2024
Digital overload is real. The constant influx of information can leave us feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, anxious, and burnt out. And we crave more! That's the irony of addiction. We know it's bad for us and yet, we just can't stop. At the height of my digital over-use, I consumed multiple podcasts a day while watching news on TV and working. Looking back, I can see how I felt digital fatigue creep in and take over every cell of my body. When our brains are flooded with too much digital noise, we lose the ability to process and focus. To combat digital fatigue, we need to start with an inventory. What are we actually doing? How much time are we actually spending in the ether? We can choose to lighten our load by decluttering our digital world. Unsubscribe from unnecessary emails, turn off non-essential notifications, and set boundaries around screen time. Once we see it, we can take active steps to minimize the impact and restore balance to our mind.
